SMRTe Unified Authentication

Unified Multi-Factor Authentication

Access management remains one of the last vestiges of “the old ways” of structuring enterprise networks.  Whereas networks have been undergoing accelerated convergence – due to the adoption of standard protocols, open source software and centralized software services – identity management, specifically authentication, has not seen any progress towards convergence.

There are still many resources using single factor authentication, i.e. username and passwords, and the variety of proprietary multi-factor authentication (MFA) solutions only seems to be getting larger.  Network architects are now fearful that the access management solution they choose will only complicate their architecture, ruin the user experience and lock them in to one solution for life.

The result is networks with a mixture of disparate access management methods with some resources relying on obsolete username and password and others using various MFA solutions.

TELEGRID’s SMRTe platform evens out the network authentication playing field by allowing all network resources, regardless of whether they use single factor authentication or any one of the popular MFA methods to utilize a single MFA technology.  It is done simply without changes to resources, adding firewalls, changing network architecture or introducing latency.  The straight-forward central authentication nature of the SMRTe allows for easy implementation of future MFA solutions.

Adding a SMRTe to a network – available as a hardware appliance, a software application or a Virtual Machine – ensures that all resources are protected by a single MFA technology.
